What are the patients saying?

  • I have had chronic migraines...It was ruining my life

I have had chronic migraines for many many years that were horribly debilitating. I tried medicines, Botox, and anything experimental that the Doctors would suggest and nothing worked. It was ruining my life. My daughters suggested acupuncture as an alternative and that's when we found Dr. Yim.

He started seeing me once a week for my migraines and he is nothing short of amazing! My migraines have significanty lessened and I am feeling great! When I do get a migraine, Dr. Yim always finds time to fit me in for a session.

He has been patient, understanding, and is sincerely compassionate. I would highly recommend Dr. Yim for anyone looking for an acupuncturist! -Kathleen White

  • I walked into Dr. Yim's office with a cane, but I have not used it since.

Dr. Yim is thorough, professional, knowledgeable, and insightful. I have been treated with acupuncture on and off for over 20 years, and it has always been effective. At age 49 I was diagnosed with acute transverse myelitis, at which time I specifically sought out Dr. Yim's care based on his reputation and many personal referrals.

My disease process was autoimmune and resulted in impaired mobility. I walked into Dr. Yim's office with a cane, but I have not used it since. I'm not making miraculous claims, but Dr. Yim was able to increase blood circulation to areas previously starved and to calm the autoimmune response.

The treatment of one ailment has resulted in other personal health benefits such as control of dermatitis, control of heartburn, and control of prolonged crying spells, which had caused quite a bit of embarrassment and inconvenience. I'm no longer using tranquilizers. Dr. Yim has not only successfully treated my health issues, but he has also educated me on how the body works and natural methods of keeping in balance. I feel very blessed to be treated by Dr. Yim. -Lydia

  • The chest pains frightened me...

I was at work, and I had a constant dull pain in my chest on the right side. I was sure it wasn't a heart attack, but I didn't want to risk it. My general practitioner didn't think anything of it. He prescribed me three different pain killers.

One of my friends had been going to Dr. Yim, and I hadn't been to an acupuncturist in a long time. He was nice enough to see me that day for my initial visit.

Dr. Yim told me his priority was to get my overall health back to a place where I was comfortable and strong enough to fight against intrusions in my body. Eventually I was well enough to cleanse my gallbladder of the stones that were causing pain. I never even filled my prescription for those painkeillers from my general practitioner. -Joshua

  • After my car accident, it wasn't the pain that was bothering me...

I had constant anxiety. I would wake up several times during the night with a start. It was like someone was shaking me awake. The emergency room prescribed me with pain pills and told me to be careful about a possible concussion. Besides that, I was just so tense all the time.

I had been seeing Dr. Yim already, so it was only natural that I start going in more. I told him anout the restlessness and he went to work. Of course, I slept great through all the treatments, but at home I was finally able to find some peace. -Rhonda

  • My concentration was suffering

I've always been fit, and I do my best work when I'm working out. But at the time I was having a hard time staying focused on my work.

Dr. Yim could sense the stress immediately. I didn't know it was stress, how could he tell by feeling my pulse? The treatments helped me put my stress in its place so I could do my work. -Troy

Insurance and Pricing

Most of our patients are covered under an insurance plan. We accept all major insurance plans, and we are happy to check eligibility for acupuncture treatments. This way, you can visit us for a similar copay you would pay your primary care physician.

Sometimes, though, insurance plans do not cover acupuncture. There are also other reasons why an individual decides to pay out-of-pocket. We are happy to accomodate this, and our pricing structure is based on frequency of visit.

Our goal is to help you to be the healthiest you can be, lessen the need for medication, and reduce the risk of major medical expenses, without becoming an unnecessarily major medical expense ourselves.

Q&A

Will it Hurt?

I mean, we ARE talking about needles...

Naturally, humans are afraid of the unfamiliar. The unfamiliar, however, has nothing on the common fear of needles. Compared to the needle used to deliver a shot at the doctors office, an acupuncture needle is about one third the thickness or barely thicker than a human hair.

None of that information is going to alleviate your anxiety, though. This is why the doctor will have a consulation visit with you before you ever see a needle. Once you do start treatment, the needle will lose all its mystery and you'll see that pain is not an accurate description of the sensation.

Is it expensive?

I'm not made of money

Healthy food, health clubs, and health spas all carry the reputation of being expensive. Those who prescribe to these items feel the return they receive from the practice is more than enough to justify the cost. Chances are, if you are on this site, there is an area of your life you would like to improve.

Healthcare is a significant expenditure in our lives. As we age, our health becomes more and more of a concern. Prescription costs, insurance premiums, and copays can add up. Stress affects everyone and leads to sickness.

Acupuncture is a wellness practice that can supplement and aid your healthy and active lifestyle. Acupuncture can help you live a life you enjoy. In addition to your regular checkups with your regular doctor, many areas of your life can be treated and enhanced with Acupuncture.

Additionally, New World Acupuncture works with medical insurance. A Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account may be used to pay for office visits. Please check with your plan and have us check your eligibility for reimbursement or co-pays. Membership discounts are offered as well.

Is it a waste of time?

I can't imagine yet ANOTHER waiting room in my life

Your time is valuable, of course, and you certainly don't have time to be spending it frivolously. Why go see a doctor if you're not sick?
